I was back and forth about this for a year, and I finally made my move.
I retired my blog, Journey for Jessi. “Retired” is not quite the word I need, nor is “rebranded” or “revamped” or any of those terms. The truth is, I sat scouring for more fitting words in a thesaurus before coming to terms with the fact that there is no fitting term.
So, here my why…
For about a year, I took some time away from blogging. I created a blog in 2014 to help myself cope with losing my best friend and share her memory through somethings we both loved: health, fitness and food.
As time passed, my heart and soul were able to heal some, not completely, but some. My blogging had served its purpose. It fulfilled a void in me that needed filling and allowed me to remember and act as though my best friend were still with me, talking about fitness and baking and the likes.
Through the past four years, I have done a tremendous amount of healing. Healing, not just from grief and loss, but also from an unhealthy life and mindset. That healing over time turned to growth. I grew over these four years more than I ever thought possible.
I look back to the me that was living four years ago, even rereading those early blog posts, and I am dumbfounded. I am not the same person I was four years ago, all for the better.
I am healthy. I am strong. I am confident. I am happy. I am so many things that I use to believe where impossible for me to be.
With all of these changes, I knew in my heart it was time to start again. To start blogging about my passions for health and wellness. I also knew that it was time to start writing fresh. That fresh feeling, I felt, began with a new take on my blog to reflect the fresh and freer version of myself.
Like I said, I was back and forth–tormented, really. How could I change the name of my blog that meant so much to me?? Something that I was, and still am, so proud of. I still wanted to share Jessi’s memory and spread our love of fitness and food, but something was off. It did not feel right for me to continue on a such a beautiful dedication that Journey for Jessi was as the same person I was four years ago.
The biggest growth I achieved over the years was learning to speak my truth and live my authentic and genuine self. That is why I decided to begin writing again under a new blog direction.
Jessi and Journey for Jessi will forever have a place in my heart. Writing and remembering helped me heal and grow into the person that I am now. That is why I am writing this. That is why I decided to keep everything I wrote in the past on my new blog. You can find all of my old dedication, memorial and reflection posts under the “journey for jessi” menu.
Going forward, I will be continuing to share wellness tips and thoughts, recipes, and fitness and exercises because my passion for health has grown with me too the past four years.
Here’s to the journey you and I have been on, and the great one we have ahead with Moving Mountains Wellness!
