This week’s work out includes the use of a TRX suspension system, or you can use gymnastics rings. You need some kind of suspension for rows or ring rows, where you hold on to the grips and pull your body up to the grips/handles/rings. It’s always a bonus to add a second pause at the top of the pull. Try it for yourself!

Yesterday was just one of the many weekend days I spend just hanging out and doing whatever comes to mind. No schedule, no limiting obligations, no commitments… it is so nice to have days and weekends like that. This is my last weekend to have such an agenda–rather lack of agenda since classes resume on Tuesday to kick off the spring semester. As my last free weekend, I decided to do a home workout and make sweet potato chips to enjoy.
It is so beyond important to mix up your workout. I am guilty as charged for just going to the gym, doing the elliptical for an hour, then a few assisted weight machines. Snore! My body is bored! I am so grateful that I got P90X3 for Christmas! I have completed 6 days of the workouts and am already loving it! I love the challenge and my body is thankful for something new. Continue reading

Over the past weeks I have been traveling across the state of Texas back to Colorado in preparation for the beginning of classes again. It has been a great summer and these past weeks have been a perfect finale to the whole ordeal. Yesterday was a good day. I received my Liveashore workout tank in the mail, had a day full of great snacks, and filled with kick-butt workouts! It all began with my morning run as I continue training for my half-marathon(s). I have just been running 6-8 miles a week since I have not registered for any halfs yet, and Jessi’s is in all the way in May. It has been really hot here in Houston, so I learned to listen to my body and heart and slow it down. Continue reading

Notice that this rotation is repeated four times (the others were usually three). This is because when I did this circuit only three times, it took me six minutes and burnt 20 calories (*based on my body and level of exertion). Maybe I just was not feeling “it” this morning, but my heart rate stayed pretty low. If this is the case with you as well, do my recommended four repetitions. As always though, listen to your body.
